Stow Parish Council

Section 34 of the Burial Act 1852

Local Government Act 1972

            Article 15 of the Local Authorities Cemeteries Order 1977

 

Fees payments and sums fixed and agreed by the Stow Parish Council at a Meeting of the Council held on 14/01/19 item 08/19.

The fees payments and sums set out below apply where the person to be interred or in respect of whom the right is granted is, or immediately before death was, an inhabitant or parishioner of the Parish of Stow, or in the case of a stillborn child, where the parents (or one of them) are or at the time of interment, were such inhabitants or parishioners who were on the current or previous year's electoral roll, or children of parents whose names appear on it.  In all other cases the fees relating to purchase of Single Depth Adult Graves and Ashes Plots will be as stated.

 

PART 1 - EXCLUSIVE RIGHT OF BURIAL

 

For the exclusive right of burial, not exceeding 75 years.

All charges to be reviewed annually.

The exclusive right of burial is for 100 years from the date of purchase not burial, and may be passed down through the family.  At the end of 100 years the plot reverts back to the Parish Council together with all rights concerning the grave. The deed holder must obtain the permission of the Parish Council if he/she wishes to erect a memorial on the concrete plinth provided for that purpose.

 

PART 11 - MONUMENTS FOR BURIAL

Headstone, book, tablet or cross not to exceed 3' in height inclusive of base and width not to exceed 2'6" which will include any flower vase if required.   The depth should not exceed 12 inches.  No kerbs, fences or other grave ornaments will be permitted.  Under no circumstances may relatives plant on the grave surface, and all memorials must be placed on the concrete plinth, in order to facilitate grass cutting.  Any objects left on the grass will be removed. If an additional plinth is erected, the maximum size is 12” from front to back, with the Memorial base maximum 10” from front to back. The Mason's name and the Grave No. to be engraved on side.

 

 

PART 111 - MONUMENTS FOR CREMATION

All purchasers may with approval erect a monument no more than 14” high inclusive of any base, and 2’ x 1’ width.

 

Monuments will be inclusive of a vase if required, as no items will be permitted on the grass area.    Under no circumstances may relatives plant on the grave surface, and all memorials must be placed on the concrete plinth, in order to facilitate grass cutting.  Any objects left on the grass will be removed.  All headstones are subject to the approval of Stow Parish Council and a drawing showing the form and dimensions of every headstone proposed to be erected must be submitted on the appropriate form to the Parish Council.  No alteration to any existing headstone shall be made after the initial approval without written notification to the Parish Council whose consent must be obtained.   Any memorial erected that does not conform to Parish Council specifications will be removed.  All headstones are to be kept in good repair by the owners and if not repaired by due notice, may be removed by the Parish Council.
